Privacy Policy

MZ Bank respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your data, and outlines your rights under the Commonwealth of Redmont Privacy Act and other applicable privacy laws. We handle personal information in accordance with Article IX of MZ Bank's bylaws - which requires strict confidentiality for customer data - and the Commonwealth of Redmont's Privacy Act, which imposes specific obligations to safeguard your information.

1. Compliance with Privacy Laws

MZ Bank complies with the Privacy Act and all relevant privacy regulations. In practice, this means we adhere to the following core principles and obligations:

Transparency: We will inform you why we collect your personal information, how we intend to use it, and who it may be disclosed to, in plain language. You will always know the purpose for any data we ask you to provide.
Collection and Use Limitations: We only collect personal data that is necessary for providing banking services or required by law. We will not use your information for purposes unrelated to banking (such as marketing other products) without your consent.
Access and Correction: You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to request corrections if the information is inaccurate or out-of-date. MZ Bank will provide you with access to your data upon request (after verifying identity) and make corrections as needed.
Complaint Mechanism: If you have concerns about your privacy or how your data is handled, we provide a way for you to make a complaint and have it addressed. We will respond to privacy complaints in a timely manner (see Section 6 below on how to lodge a complaint).

Restricted Sharing: MZ Bank will not disclose your personal information to third parties outside of the situations described in this policy. In particular, we will not share your information with separate companies or government entities without your consent, unless disclosure is required by law or falls under another legal exception. (For example, we will obey lawful court orders or Redmont government requirements to release information, but we will not voluntarily give away your data.)
Confidentiality: All customer information is kept confidential. As stated in Article IX of our corporate bylaws, customer data must be protected in line with privacy laws. Our staff are trained and obligated to keep your information private. We implement security measures (described below) to safeguard your data. Under the Privacy Act, improper disclosure of personal information can lead to legal penalties, including fines, so we take our confidentiality duty seriously.

2. Information We Collect

When you open an account or use MZ Bank's services, we collect certain personal information from you:

Identity Information: Your in-game name (Minecraft username) and, if required, your Discord username or ID. This helps us verify your identity for account access via Discord and in-game.
Contact Information: We may collect contact details such as your Discord handle or email address, if you provide them, to send account notifications or for support purposes.
Account Data: Details about your MZ Bank accounts, such as account numbers, account type (checking, savings, etc.), and the date of account opening.
Transaction Data: Records of deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and balances associated with your accounts. This includes logs from our Discord banking bot (e.g., deposit/withdrawal requests you make) and in-game transaction records (such as /db deposit logs).
Communication Records: Copies of communications with you, such as support tickets, Discord messages related to banking transactions, or other correspondence. We retain these to document instructions or any issues you report.
Usage Data: We may collect technical information when you interact with our services, such as the dates/times you access your account via Discord or any errors encountered, for security and troubleshooting. We collect only what we need to serve you and meet our legal obligations. For example, we do not collect personal information like your real name, address, or payment card details since our banking system uses in-game currency only. If in the future we offer services requiring additional personal data, we will update this policy and obtain necessary consent.

3. How We Use Your Information

MZ Bank uses your personal information solely for legitimate business purposes, including:

Providing Services: We use your information to operate your bank account and provide services you request. For example, we will use your account and transaction data to process deposits and withdrawals, update your balances, and confirm transactions.
Communication: We use your Discord contact or other provided contact info to communicate with you about your account. This can include sending confirmations of transactions, notifying you of important account events (like a low balance or account freeze), responding to support requests, or advising you of updates to our Terms or Privacy Policy.
Security and Verification: Information like your IGN and Discord ID are used to verify that we are dealing with the correct person when you initiate a transaction or request account info. This is to prevent unauthorized access.
Legal Compliance: We may use and retain certain data to comply with legal obligations. For example, we keep transaction records as required by financial regulations, and we monitor accounts for suspicious activity to comply with anti-money laundering (AML) laws and other regulations in Redmont. If we detect potential fraud or illegal activity, we may use your data to investigate and take appropriate action (such as freezing your account as noted in the Terms).
Improvement of Services: Internally, we might analyze aggregated, non-identifying information to improve our banking services. For example, tracking how many users use the Discord bot after a certain update helps us gauge feature usage. These analyses do not involve using personal data in a way that identifies or profiles you individually, unless we have your consent. No Unauthorized Use: We will not use your personal information for purposes unrelated to MZ Bank's services without asking you first. For instance, we won't use your data to market third-party products to you, and we won't transfer your information to other players or companies for their own use, unless you explicitly authorize it or such sharing is permitted by this policy and the law.

4. Storage and Protection of Data

Data Security: MZ Bank takes reasonable and appropriate measures to secure your personal information. We store digital data in secure databases or encrypted files. Access to these databases is restricted to MZ Bank personnel who need the information to perform their duties (for example, customer support or account maintenance). We employ security practices to prevent unauthorized access, alteration, or loss of data. Server Security: Our banking data (including transaction logs and account records) is stored on systems that are protected by firewall and security software. Because MZ Bank operates in a Minecraft server environment, we also rely on the DemocracyCraft server's security measures for in-game transaction data. We will coordinate with the server administrators as needed to ensure that in-game commands and data are handled safely.

No Guarantee: While we are committed to protecting your data, please note that no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. MZ Bank cannot guarantee absolute security of information, especially given the online nature of Minecraft and Discord. However, we continuously review and enhance our security measures to adapt to new threats or vulnerabilities. By using our services, you acknowledge that there is some inherent risk in any online data exchange. Data Retention: MZ Bank retains personal data for as long as it is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law or best practice. For instance, if you close your account, we may retain your account records for a certain period (e.g., a few months) in case of any post-closure issues or audits. We may also retain transaction records for a longer period if required by current or future financial regulations or tax laws in Redmont. When personal data is no longer needed, we will securely delete or anonymize it upon customer request. Breach Response: In the unlikely event of a data breach or security incident that compromises your personal information, MZ Bank will promptly notify affected clients and take steps to mitigate the damage, in accordance with applicable law. We may also report such incidents to Redmont authorities as required by the Privacy Act or other laws.

MZ Bank treats your personal information as private and confidential. We do not share, sell, or rent your personal data to third parties for their own marketing or other independent use. We will only share your information under the following circumstances:

With Your Consent: We will share your personal information with a third party only if you give us explicit permission. For example, if you want us to work with another bank or service on your behalf and you consent to our sharing of relevant details, we will do so as instructed.
Within MZ Bank and Affiliates: Your information may be shared within the internal divisions of MZ Bank or with any future subsidiaries/affiliates of MZ Bank, to the extent necessary to provide our services. (As of now, MZ Bank operates as an entity with one subsidiary. If we form other subsidiaries or partner with an affiliate, they will be bound by the same Privacy Policy and confidentiality requirements.) We may also share your information with other member companies within the Mezimori Union, to the extent necessary to provide our services. We will not share your data with any separate, unrelated entity without a lawful basis.
Service Providers: MZ Bank may engage trusted third-party service providers to help us run our operations (for example, an IT consultant to maintain our Discord bot or a data backup service, or a credit-rating service for loan application evaluation). If these providers need access to personal data, they will be obligated to use the information only for the services they perform for us and to keep it confidential.
Legal Requirements and Protection: We may disclose your personal information if required by law or valid legal process. This includes:

Government or Law Enforcement Requests: If a Redmont law (or valid court order, subpoena, or warrant) compels us to provide information, we will comply after verifying the request's legitimacy. For example, if Redmont courts or regulators demand certain account records as part of an investigation, we must provide them.
To Protect Ourselves and Others: If disclosure is necessary to enforce our Terms of Service, protect MZ Bank's rights or property, or in urgent situations to protect the personal safety of our clients or the public, we may disclose information as allowed by law. For instance, reporting suspected fraud or security threats to relevant authorities might involve sharing client information.
Business Transfers: If MZ Bank is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information might be transferred to the successor or acquiring entity so that your banking services can continue. In such a case, we will ensure the new owner honors the existing Privacy Policy or provides notice and an opportunity to opt-out or close your account before your data is transferred under a different policy. Outside of these scenarios, MZ Bank will not share your personal data with any third party. Notably, we do not share your information with other players, businesses, or government departments for any purpose unless one of the above conditions is met. Your banking matters are private. Even within the DemocracyCraft community, we will never disclose your balances or transactions to other players or announce them publicly without your consent except to transaction counterparties or when required by law. All disclosures of personal information are done in a manner consistent with the Privacy Act's requirements and exceptions. If we ever have to share your data due to a legal requirement, and if the law allows, we will attempt to notify you about what information is being shared.

6. Your Rights Under the Privacy Act

As a client of MZ Bank, and under the Commonwealth of Redmont Privacy Act, you have specific rights regarding your personal information. We are committed to upholding these rights and have processes in place to do so:

Right to Know (Transparency): You have the right to know what personal information we collect and why. This Privacy Policy is part of fulfilling that right. Upon request, we will provide additional information about how your data is collected, used, and disclosed. The law ensures you can know why your personal information is being collected, how it will be used, and who it will be disclosed to - we strive to make all those details clear in this Policy. If you have any questions about our data practices, you can ask and we will explain.
Right of Access: You have the right to access your personal information that MZ Bank holds. This means you can request a copy of the data we have about you, such as your account details and transaction records. To make an access request, please contact us (see Section 7, "Contact and Questions," below). For security, we will verify your identity (for example, by confirming your Discord ID and some account

details) before releasing the information. We will then provide the requested information in a reasonable time frame. Typically, access requests are fulfilled by providing you a summary of the data in our records, or electronic copies of records if appropriate. There is typically no charge for reasonable access requests, but MZ Bank may charge if requests are frequent, broad in scope, or otherwise impose non-negligible costs on our business.

Right to Correction: If you discover that any personal information we have is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to request a correction. For instance, if your contact discord account on file is wrong or your account information has a typo, inform us and we will update it. We want to keep accurate records. If certain information can only be updated by you (for example, your Discord username changes), we will explain how you can update it or input the new information into our system. This right to correct ensures that we don't keep using incorrect data. MZ Bank will make the correction as soon as practicable after your request, and we will confirm to you when we've done so. (We may ask for documentation for certain changes, if required, to ensure the accuracy of the correction.)
Right to Withdraw Consent: In cases where we rely on your consent to use or share your data (and not on another legal obligation), you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. For example, if you previously agreed to let us share your data with a partner for a new service, you can change your mind and we will stop that sharing going forward. Withdrawal of consent will not affect any use of your data that has already occurred, but will prevent future use or sharing for the purposes you withdraw from.
Right to Complain: We hope to address any privacy concerns you have, but you should know you have the right to complain if you believe your data has been mishandled or your privacy rights violated. MZ Bank's internal process for complaints is described in Section 7 below - essentially, you can contact us and we will investigate and respond to your complaint. We will provide an explanation and attempt to resolve any issue. If you are not satisfied with our response, the Privacy Act gives you the right to escalate your complaint to external authorities. Specifically, you may bring your concerns to the Commonwealth of Redmont's government agencies (such as the Department of Commerce) or pursue legal action through the courts. The law even acknowledges that individuals can complain to a higher entity if an organization doesn't properly address a privacy issue. We sincerely encourage you to work with us first, as we are committed to resolving any problems in good faith. Please note that some rights might have lawful exceptions. For example, we might not release certain information if doing so would violate someone else's privacy or a court order. If we ever have to refuse a request (such as denying an access request), we will provide you with the reason, to the extent allowed by law, and inform you of any further options. Overall, MZ Bank is dedicated to facilitating your Privacy Act rights and maintaining your trust.

7. Contact, Questions, and Complaints

Contacting MZ Bank: If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, or if you wish to exercise any of your rights described above (access, correction, etc.), or if you have a privacy-related complaint, you can contact us through the following methods:

Discord: The quickest way to reach us is via our official MZ Bank Discord server. You can open a support ticket on the server to raise your issue. Please include as much detail as possible (for example, your account number or IGN and what information you are requesting or which issue you are concerned about).
In-Game: You can also contact a bank officer in-game via mail or chat to ask for help, though for detailed requests we may still direct you to Discord or email to ensure proper documentation and follow-up. Response Time: We will acknowledge receipt of your request or complaint as soon as possible (generally within 1-2 Redmont business days). We aim to provide a substantive response or resolution within a reasonable time frame, typically no more than 1-2 weeks for most requests. If a request is complex or requires more investigation, we will let you know and keep you updated on the progress. Complaint Resolution: When we receive a privacy complaint, our team (with input from our legal counsel if needed) will investigate the issue. We may reach out to you for more information if necessary. After investigation, we will inform you of the outcome and any steps taken to address your concern. If the complaint reveals a fault on our part (for example, a mistake in how we handled data), we will correct it and take measures to prevent it from happening again. We appreciate the opportunity to fix problems and improve our practices. Escalation: As noted in Section 6, if you are not satisfied with our handling of your privacy complaint, you have the right under the Privacy Act to escalate the matter. This could involve contacting the Department of Commerce or Department of State to lodge an official complaint. You also have the option to seek relief through the courts of Redmont after pursuing mediation with MZ Bank on the topic. MZ Bank hopes to resolve issues without the need for legal action, but this Privacy Policy does not limit your lawful remedies. (Keep in mind, per our Terms of Service, that any legal disputes may be subject to the dispute resolution and jurisdiction clauses above.)

8. Changes to this Privacy Policy

Just as with our Terms of Service, MZ Bank may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in law or our services. If we make significant changes to how we handle your personal information or your rights, we will notify clients by posting the updated Privacy Policy via official channels (e.g., Discord announcements) and explaining the changes. Continued use of MZ Bank services after a Privacy Policy update indicates your acceptance of the revised policy. However, if required by law, we will seek your consent for certain material changes (for example, if we ever decided to use your data for a new purpose not substantially covered by the current policy, we would ask for your permission first). We include a "Last Updated" or "Effective Date" date at the top of the policy so you can easily see when it was last revised.

Document History: This Terms of Service and Privacy Policy document is issued on the Effective Date noted above. It supersedes any prior Terms or Privacy notices that may have been provided to clients. We encourage you to save or print a copy of this document for your records.
